Ajay Devgn-Kajol celebrate 23 years of Raju Chacha; share memories of working with Rishi Kapoor: ‘He was the most amazing actor…’

After Raju Chacha, Kajol and Ajay Devgn worked in U Me Aur Hum and the 2020 blockbuster Tanhaji.

Actor couple Ajay Devgn  and Kajol on Thursday celebrated 23 years of their action-comedy Raju Chacha and took a trip down memory lane, sharing with fans how the film was made. Raju Chacha was directed by Ajay’s brother Anil Devgan.

The film also starred Rishi Kapoor, who both Ajay and Kajol mentioned in their tweets about the film’s anniversary. Raju Chacha was the debut production venture of Ajay Devgn.

Ajay took to X (formerly Twitter) and wrote about working with Rishi Kapoor, why the film is close to his heart and how Kajol was the backbone of the film offering him “unwavering support”.

“Reflecting on 23 years of #RajuChacha, a film that holds my heart for many reasons ❤️ Anil’s directorial debut paved the way for me to embody Raju, a man deeply rooted in emotion, despite walking on the wrong side of the law. This movie gave me the opportunity to work with kids for the first time, who made things so much more fun on set, and to share the screen with Rishi Ji for the very first time, a memory I’ll always hold close to my heart. And amidst it all, @itsKajolD stood as my steadfast partner, on and off screen, offering unwavering support. As I look back, I can only feel gratitude for having been a part of this film! ✨🎥,” Ajay tweeted. Kajol, in her post, revealed how the film’s set of a fairyland was put up in Ooty, where the whole crew lived for three months. The actor said filming Raju Chacha is and always will be an “epic memory”. “The first being the fact that it was my one and only film with #RishiKapoor, somebody whom I have always been in awe of as an actor. He was the most amazing actor on screen and it was my honour to work with him in that film. Secondly because we put up this fairyland set on the top of a mountain in Ooty and lived there for nearly ninety days!!! Now that’s truly something that is unforgettable. The whole Devgan family settled house there for three months! Mother, father et all!,” she wrote. Raju Chacha followed the story of a con artist who must pose as the long-lost brother of a wealthy widower after his death and save the children and the fortune from their scheming relatives.
