BJP Mumbai President Ashish Shelar said that just like the AAP leadership in Delhi, the previous MVA regime in Maharashtra, too, indulged in corruption and the matter needed to be investigated.
After Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s arrest in the Delhi liquor scam case, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Maharashtra has demanded a CBI inquiry into the state’s liquor policy drafted under the then Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. The inquiry was with regard to the concessions and orders let out by the previous Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) regime.
BJP Mumbai President Ashish Shelar said that just like the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leadership in Delhi, the previous MVA regime in Maharashtra too indulged in corruption and the matter needed to be investigated. Ashish Shelar said, “The real face of AAP has come out. Manish Sisodia has been arrested, and is being investigated on how the Aam Aadmi Party allegedly indulged in receiving favours and indulged in corruption with liquor distributors.” “But, around the same time, the MVA government in Maharashtra under the leadership of Uddhav Thackeray was entering into a deal with liquor manufacturers and distributors. So, would the CBI, investigating the Sisodia matter, reach Maharashtra as well? Did Arvind Kejriwal meet Uddhav Thackeray for the same reasons?” BJP Mumbai President Ashish Shelar asked. According to Ashish Shelar, the MVA gave tax exemption on foreign liquor as well as discounts on license fees for bars and pubs. He also pointed out that wine was allowed to be sold in grocery stores. In his tweet, BJP Mumbai President Ashish Shelar asked if the ripples of the ongoing CBI investigation would reach from Delhi to Maharashtra.
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut hit back at Ashish Shelar and said that the BJP leader wasn’t a judge to talk about investigation, and instead of blaming the MVA, the BJP leader should talk about the corruption in the government in the past six months.
