Telangana MLA and suspended BJP leader T Raja Singh courted controversy after releasing a video in which he called All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi the ‘biggest cow slaughterer’. The suspended BJP lawmaker urged the Centre to bring in a law to ban cow slaughter across the country.

“Several illegal slaughter houses are being run in Owaisi’s constituency where cows and oxes are killed and the meat is exported,” Singh is heard saying in the video.

In a scathing attack on the Hyderabad Lok Sabha MP, Singh wondered whether Owaisi would call the cow slaughterers ‘desh bhakt (patriots)’.

Referring to the cow vigilante cases, Singh took aim at Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and said that the senior Congress leader is playing politics over the cow slaughter/rakshaks issue.

Owaisi had earlier slammed the BJP government for going soft on ‘gau rakshak’ or cow vigilante groups. The Hyderabad Lok Sabha MP had claimed that these vigilantes help serve the purpose of the saffron party.

COW VIGILANTE CASE

Nasir (25) and Junaid alias Juna (35), residents of Ghatmeeka village in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur district, were allegedly abducted by cow vigilantes and their bodies were found inside a burnt car in Loharu in Haryana’s Bhiwani last month.

According to their families, the two were kidnapped by Bajrang Dal-affiliated cow vigilantes. However, the police said that one of them was involved in cow smuggling cases.
